VinceAboutPicKolumbodub is the music project of Vince Nelson an independent reggae dub music producer from Birmingham UK. His production skills include mix engineering, Vocal Production, Songwriting and collaboration, Keyboard and Drum programming, Arranging, and electric bassist & guitar.

Vince is currently in his studio writing and recording new songs for his latest EP. The as yet untitled EP is scheduled for release in Summer 2016. With both feet solidly in reggae, he juggles elements of Soul,  R&B and a taste of Hip-Hop with the vibrations of heavy dub echoes .

Vince was born & raised in Wolverhampton, UK and moved to Birmingham, UK in the eighties to work for local Birmingham band Musical Youth as a roadie and equipment technician. As a teenager he taught himself to play various instruments including keyboards & electric bass guitar.“ A good friend of mine inspired me to play and I wanted to learn after seeing him play. I have always loved reggae music funk and fusion music and I started writing and composing songs in my head and copied those styles until I developed my own sound.” he explains. “ It was around this time I got into recording and engineering. I set up a small studio with a cassette machine, a four track reel to reel and began recording and bouncing ideas. Back then it was total experimentation. As I grew older, my expectation of myself rose, and my abilities strengthened.”

Vince began his professional career playing bass guitar most notably for Weapon of Peace, Pato Banton & Reggae Revolution.

In recent years, he has focused on the exploding area of digital music production. After being made redundant from work he went back to his first love and passion and began writing and recording songs on a laptop marking the beginning of Kolumbodub.

With these newest recordings, you can hear an artist that has arrived at a place of mastery of his instrument, the studio and the songs. “A few of the songs are old school in the sound but timeless in the feelings.” he states. The EP is planned to consist of six tracks.

Vince is on a continuing mission to promote positive reggae music and to make meaningful connections with others’ through producing and sharing his original compositions and good quality music.

He strongly believes that reggae music is the one universal language and has a rich emotional value and is one of the deepest ways to make meaningful connections with people – and nothing gives him greater satisfaction.
